Hamid, like many other children, had a dream of attending a prestigious Grade “A” school. But his early years of education were not without challenges. He attended several schools in Waterloo, including the Rural Education Committee, Bassa Town School, (REC) and the Rural Training and Commercial Institute (R.T.C.I.) Despite moving to Lunsar to attend the highly regarded Murialdo School, Hamid was unfortunately denied admission.
Despite these setbacks, Hamid never lost his determination and passion for education. He eventually gained admission to the *Alieu Dausy Wurie Memorial Senior Secondary School in Lunsar*, where he excelled and after his WASSCE examination, he was awarded a scholarship by the Government of Sierra Leone to study Bsc. in International Business at Limkokwing University.
At the university, Hamid’s hard work and dedication caught the attention of the University’s administration. He was appointed as a Student Ambassador for the Limkokwing University, representing the university both at home and abroad.
In 2020, Hamid was elected as the *President of the Western Area Rural District Students Union, where he made exceptional successes and paved the way for more opportunities. In 2021, he was elected as the National President of the Alieu Dausy Wurie Old Students Association* in Lunsar, further demonstrating his leadership abilities.
That same year, Hamid was appointed as the deputy chairperson for the Western Area Rural District Youth Council, where he continued to make positive impacts in his communities. In addition, he registered one of the fastest growing Community Based Organizations in the district, *CEEPARD SIERRA LEONE*, where he is serving as the Executive Director. He also registered his first company, MABRUD SIERRA LEONE, where he is serving as the Chief Executive Director.
Just yesterday, Hamid became one of the first students to graduate from Limkokwing University with Hons. in Bsc. in International Business at Limkokwing University Sierra Leone. His contributions and sheer enthusiasm to promote Education and Rural Community Development have earned him a remarkable accolade from the Western Area Rural District Students Union. He was given the *Western Area Rural District Outstanding Leadership and Academic Excellence Award* making him one of the few Sierra Leoneans to receive it.
Hamid’s journey shows that despite facing challenges and setbacks, it is possible to overcome them and achieve great things through hard work and determination. It’s clear that the school you attend does not defined your future, it is your commitment and undiluted dedication that will sail you through. His unwavering commitment to Education and community Development serves as an inspiration to us all.
