UBA Sierra Leone is proud to announce the appointment of Mohamed Alhajie Samoura as its new Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Samoura is the first Sierra Leonean to attain such position in the bank since its commencement of operations in the country in 2008.

Mr. Samoura is taking over from Usman Isiaka, who served the bank for two years and has been appointed to UBA America in New York as the Deputy CEO.

Mohamed is a seasoned banker with close to two decades of working experience in Sierra Leone banking industry. Until his appointment as the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UBA Sierra Leone, he held the position of Executive Director, Business Development in the bank.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science and a master’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He is passionate about banking and has a strong drive to create impact in the business and financial arena. He has several accolades to his name, and was recently named amongst the 100 Most Outstanding Executives in Sierra Leone by the Sierra Ovation Awards.

Mr. Samoura’s appointment is in line with the UBA Group’s strategic focus on domesticating the bank’s governance, products and services to meet the local requirements of the host economy in all its 20 presence countries in Africa and further supporting human capital development across the continent as we expose the local staff to international standards and global best practices.

UBA Sierra Leone currently has over 400,000 customers with the strong vision to be undisputed leading and dominant financial services institution in the banking sector in Sierra Leone. With the appointment of Mohamed Alhajie Samoura as its new Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, UBA Sierra Leone is well on its way to achieving this goal.

He is the founder of Africa’s Wakanda a platform that spotlight the beauty of Africa. Festus is also a perpetual volunteer in life-changing causes and has shown great commitment and dedication to being a catalyst and solution to the challenges faced by young people like himself. Festus currently serves as the Secretary General of the Africa Youth Leaders movement which is a network of youth between the ages of 20 – 30 years who have shown achievement, leadership potential and commitment to make a difference. Festus is also the Africa Focal Point of Youth for Change Initiative, which is a platform through which young people can access resources, be empowered and given the opportunity to grow to become useful members of society who will participate in the development of their communities and nation. Along with another Africa Youth platform, Festus has Co-Founded the Future of Africa initiative which is an advocate forum with the aim to bring together local and international socio-economic stakeholders to support innovative programs aimed at advancing the radical and practical progress of adoption awareness-vulnerable children and youth and youth leadership-through interlinking local, regional and international resources and opportunities.
