The National Sports Authority (NSA) Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has revealed a promising initiative to improve sports infrastructure in Sierra Leone, with a focus on empowering young people through the installation of artificial turf fields.
In a social media post, Abdulai shared that he recently met with representatives from FANTZ Salone and Denmark during an exploratory visit to NKI Sport DK, one of the world’s leading producers of artificial turf. The visit aimed to examine opportunities for collaboration that could lead to the development of modern sports facilities across Sierra Leone.
“I had the incredible opportunity to meet some amazing people from FANTZ Salone and Denmark who are helping me explore options for artificial turf for Sierra Leone, aimed at benefiting young people,” Abdulai stated. “Under the rain, sun, ice, and cold, we are committed to transforming sports and improving the lives of young people through this initiative.”
The NSA boss emphasized the government’s commitment to sports development, describing the artificial turf project as a potential game changer for community-level football and youth engagement. If successful, this initiative could address long-standing challenges of poor pitch conditions that hinder sports development in various parts of the country.
FANTZ Salone is known for promoting sports development locally, while NKI Sport DK has decades of experience in producing high-quality turf systems used around the world.
Abdulai’s engagement marks another step in Sierra Leone’s broader plan to modernize its sports infrastructure and foster international partnerships that support youth development and community cohesion through sports.
