Teach For Sierra Leone’s CEO, Josephine Saidu, delivered a powerful message highlighting the indispensable role of teachers in shaping the future of the nation.
“Quality education is possible because of the people who lead it,” Saidu emphasized. “Teachers are the backbone of our society. They are the ones shaping the future leaders of Sierra Leone—teaching them not only how to read and write, but how to think, innovate, and contribute to their communities.”
Despite facing significant infrastructure challenges, educators in Sierra Leone are making remarkable strides in transforming the lives of children. Their dedication, resourcefulness, and passion are the driving forces behind the progress seen in schools across the country.
Saidu’s message also included a call to action: “Our call is simple: SUPPORT OUR WORK by investing in our teacher-leaders, and we will transform the future of our nation.”
Teach For Sierra Leone continues to advocate for the empowerment of educators, not just within the country but across Africa. The organization recently co-authored an op-ed focusing on the importance of supporting teachers to ensure sustainable development and educational excellence.
