The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has strongly condemned violent scenes that led to the abandonment of the Orange FA Cup 2026 quarter-final match between Star Sports Academy and East End Lions on Sunday.

The match, played at the SLFA Academy Field, was stopped in the 86th minute after chaos broke out on the pitch, forcing officials to end the game early.

In a statement released by Ibrahim Kamara, Head of Media and Marketing at the SLFA, the association described the incident as disturbing and unacceptable.

“The game is built on rules, respect, and sportsmanship. Incidents of this nature not only endanger lives but also bring the game into disrepute,” the statement said.

The SLFA stressed that everyone involved in football, including players, officials, and supporters, must respect the rules and uphold discipline at all times.

The football governing body also confirmed that an investigation has already started to find out what caused the violence and identify those responsible.

It added that strong disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found guilty, in line with its rules and regulations.

The abandonment of the match now leaves the future of the quarter-final fixture uncertain as the SLFA continues its review. The association says it is committed to restoring order and protecting the integrity of football competitions in the country.
