Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, recently held a meeting with Mmainko Kamara, a talented young speaker who gained recognition for her viral video denouncing the prevalence of examination malpractice in the country. Kamara highlighted the detrimental effects of this issue on national development
In her video, Kamara singled out the Sierra Leone Board of Examinations Council, parents, and teachers as the main culprits behind examination malpractice. She criticized teachers and invigilators for not fulfilling their duty to prevent cheating during exams, and instead becoming active participants in the malpractice. Furthermore, she expressed frustration at how people often blame the government, while parents are willing to bribe teachers and provide expensive phones to their children during exams.
Kamara called on the government to take decisive action against individuals involved in examination malpractice.
