A new group of bloggers in Sierra Leone has been trained to fight misinformation about vaccines, in a move aimed at protecting public health and saving lives.
The training was organised by FOCUS 1000 in partnership with the Ministry of Health. It focused on helping digital creators share accurate information about immunisation and counter false claims online.
Organisers say bloggers are no longer just content creators but are now playing a key role in public awareness. With the rise of misinformation, especially on social media, they say trusted voices are needed to educate communities.
Participants were trained to understand vaccine information, communicate clearly, and use their platforms to influence positive health behaviour. The goal is to ensure more people receive the right information about vaccines.
FOCUS 1000 says the initiative is part of a wider effort to strengthen community trust in immunisation and improve public health outcomes across the country.
The trained bloggers are expected to use their platforms to promote facts, challenge false information, and encourage people to take vaccines.
Health experts say spreading accurate information is key to increasing vaccine uptake and preventing disease outbreaks.
The campaign highlights the growing role of digital media in health communication and calls on more young people to join efforts to promote truth and protect communities.
