Sierra Leone and 45 other countries have been listed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 2024 CHAN Qualifiers, just five months after the end of the Algerian edition. Sierra Leone’s home-based Leone Stars will compete against six other teams in the WAFU A zone, including Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal.
CAF has divided the countries into different regions for the qualifiers, with 8 nations participating in the WAFU A zone. The first-round first-leg matches are scheduled for September 22 and 24, 2023, with the return matches taking place on October 6 and 8. The second round will be played on December 15 and 17 (first leg) and December 22 and 24 (return leg). The third and final round is set for March 8 and 10, 2024 (outward leg) and March 15 and 17, 2024 (return leg).
It is worth noting that Sierra Leone previously defeated Cape Verde but lost to Mali in the last CHAN qualifiers.
