As he prepares to leave the country after being recalled, Ambassador Manuel Müller, the outgoing Head of the European Union Delegation to Sierra Leone, visited the Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, to bid farewell. Ambassador Müller was the head of the EU Delegation in Sierra Leone for three years.

During their meeting, they reminisced about their collaborative efforts and discussed ongoing programmes such as the Decent Work Country Programme phase II, the review of the Labour Migration Policy, and the EU-funded Opportunity Salone Programme.

Ambassador Müller, received by Minister Swaray and senior management staff, reflected on the longstanding bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and the EU. He highlighted his positive interactions with the government and people of Sierra Leone, expressing confidence that his successor would continue to strengthen these ties.

He emphasized the Labour Ministry’s crucial role in EU interventions and his enjoyment of working with the Ministry.

Minister Swaray expressed gratitude for the Ambassador’s visit, acknowledging his commitment to peace, stability, and national cohesion. He specifically praised Ambassador Müller’s role in forming the National Tripartite Committee.

The Minister underscored the importance of development partners in achieving President Julius Maada Bio’s Big Five Game Changer Agenda, which aims to bring development and essential services to even the most remote parts of the country.

As they exchanged good wishes, both Ambassador Müller and Minister Swaray committed to continued collaboration and partnership, ensuring the enduring relationship between Sierra Leone and the EU remains strong.
