Mariama Bah is a third-year student at the IPAM USL studying BSC procurement logistics and supply chain management, and also the CEO of Maria’s Cakes. Her journey as a baker began when she was in SSS 2 at the Annie Walsh Memorial School. Even in the face of molestation, Mariama never gave up on her passion for baking. After graduating from high school (Annie Walsh) in 2018, Mariama started baking cakes for friends and relatives without expecting anything in return.
In 2020, Mariama began her search for a training center where she could learn and improve her baking skills. Despite the numerous challenges she faced in trying to raise money for the training, Mariama was undeterred. Two years later, her dream of being a professional baker and establishing an institution where she could train other girls is now slowly coming to pass.
Today, Maria’s Cakes is a registered business that not only trains young people to become professional bakers, but also caters to different types of events such as birthdays, weddings and graduations.
Mariama Bah is an inspiration to all those who aim to achieve their dreams despite the many challenges they may face. She has shown us that if we remain committed and determined, even the most daunting of obstacles can be overcome.
