Abu Dhabi – Eric Kawa, a talented Multilingual On Air Personality, MC and Poet, and journalist from Sierra Leone joined the first cohort of the CNN Academy Climate Storytelling Program. Selected among 15 storytellers from the Global South, Kawa in Facebook post, expressed his delight and gratitude for being chosen for this prestigious program.
The CNN Academy Climate Storytelling Program, which received an overwhelming response of over 15,000 applications, aims to equip journalists with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively communicate climate change stories to a global audience. With support from the Rockefeller Foundation, the program offers two intense weeks of storytelling training and networking opportunities for the participants.
On his first day at the CNN Academy in Abu Dhabi, Eric Kawa shared his excitement on Facebook, posting pictures of the academy and expressing his gratitude for being part of this unique opportunity. He wrote, “Day 1: Pictures taken from the CNN Academy in Abu Dhabi. Glad to have been selected among 15 storytellers from the Global South to participate as the 1st Cohort of the CNN Academy Climate Storytelling Program.”
Eric Kawa took pictures with industry experts, including Becky Anderson, the Managing Editor of CNN Abu Dhabi and Anchor of “Connect the World.” Anderson, renowned for her exceptional storytelling skills,

With the support of the Rockefeller Foundation, the CNN Academy is committed to nurturing a new generation of climate journalists who can effectively communicate the urgency and impact of climate change on communities worldwide.
Eric Kawa is a Multilingual On Air Personality, MC and Poet. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. Eric is a presenter currently hosting several shows on Capital Radio. He uses his distinct Francophone-styled voice on the Sunday Evening Party, and many Evening Shows.
In 2016, Eric was nominated by the Africa Entertainment Legends Awards for ‘Best On-Air Personality in Africa.’ He is a recipient of several awards including the 2018/19 ‘100 Most Influential Youths’ and Business Development Representative for Afripods in Sierra Leone.
