Sierra Leonean renewable energy advocate and entrepreneur Samuella Yambasu has successfully completed the second edition of her “8 Schools in 8 Days” educational outreach tour in Port Loko District.
The final phase of the tour ended with interactive sessions at Jeremiah Senior Secondary School and Movement of Faith Islamic Secondary School in Rogbere Junction.
The initiative, which covered several communities across the district, aimed to educate secondary school students on the shift from fossil fuels to sustainable energy. Hundreds of students took part in the programme and were introduced to basic concepts of renewable energy.
During the sessions, students were given practical demonstrations on how solar energy works. Selected participants were taught how sunlight is captured, converted into electricity, stored, and distributed for use.
For many of the schools involved, this was the first time students had received hands-on training in renewable energy technology.
The outreach is part of ongoing efforts by Samuella Yambasu to promote clean energy awareness among young people in Sierra Leone and encourage interest in sustainable solutions for the future.
