Mariyam Lorba Konneh, Miss World Sierra Leone 2026, has departed Sierra Leone to represent the country at the 73rd Miss World Pageant in Vietnam.
Konneh leaves for the international competition carrying Sierra Leone’s flag and hopes of making a strong impression on the global stage as she competes alongside contestants from countries around the world.
Her participation at Miss World will provide an opportunity to showcase not only her beauty and confidence, but also Sierra Leone’s culture, young talent and the causes she has championed through her work.
Konneh is a former AYV Miss University Sierra Leone, having won the title in 2022. She has since developed a profile beyond pageantry through entrepreneurship, education and humanitarian initiatives focused on supporting women and young people.
She is currently a final-year Banking and Finance student at the Institute of Public Administration and Management, IPAM, University of Sierra Leone.
Alongside her studies, Konneh has been involved in entrepreneurial activities aimed at creating business opportunities and helping young people develop practical skills that can improve their livelihoods.
Her humanitarian work has also focused on women and girls, including initiatives around menstrual hygiene and efforts to improve awareness and access to basic menstrual health support.
These activities form an important part of the platform she is taking to Miss World, a competition that has traditionally placed emphasis on contestants using their influence to support social and humanitarian causes.
Representing Sierra Leone at the 73rd Miss World Pageant gives Konneh an opportunity to share the country’s story with an international audience while highlighting the potential of young Sierra Leonean women in education, entrepreneurship and community development.
As she begins her Miss World journey in Vietnam, supporters in Sierra Leone and abroad will be hoping she can make a strong showing and potentially bring the prestigious crown home.
For Konneh, however, the journey represents more than competing for a title. It is also an opportunity to use an international platform to promote the values, culture and aspirations of Sierra Leone while inspiring other young people to pursue their ambitions with purpose.
