Despite joint efforts by the organizers to raise fund from education partners and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School Education to raise funds were all fruitless, Ms. Lawson’s father generously sponsored her full trip.
At least 20 contestants represented each country and they were selected after qualifying through district, regional, and national levels. ICBAI (Initiative in Capacity Building Association International) were camped and trained for two weeks with self-raised funds to further the government’s commitment to gender equality and female empowerment. As a result, ICBAI was awarded a commemorative plaque.
The organization is set to partake in another international spelling bee competition in both Ethopia and Dubai as they keep on flying the country’s flag in an excellent fashion.
Unfortunately, the organization is still struggling to find adequate funds to sustain this project, leaving bright and talented kids to be let down because of a lack of support.
