Lokomasama, Sierra Leone, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh is taking significant strides to improve Sierra Leone’s food security through hands-on agricultural initiatives. Over the weekend, he joined the Yemiyah community in Lokomasama for the symbolic harvesting of rice, marking an important milestone in a project he launched months ago. Initially focused on maize cultivation, the project is already yielding positive outcomes for the local community by creating jobs and boosting food production, aligning closely with President Julius Maada Bio’s Feed Salone initiative.

The Vice President’s visit extended beyond the rice fields, as he also toured the nearby PC Agriculture Industrial Onion Farm. This ambitious farm is set to plant 70 hectares of onions this year, employing 65 permanent staff and an additional 200 seasonal workers. By providing jobs and supporting large-scale agricultural production, this project illustrates the substantial potential for local food production and employment in Sierra Leone.

Dr. Jalloh’s active engagement in agriculture highlights his dedication to fostering food self-sufficiency and economic resilience. His leadership is creating tangible impacts, reinforcing the importance of agricultural development in the nation’s progress towards sustainability. The Feed Salone initiative, bolstered by Dr. Jalloh’s efforts, is gaining momentum and shaping a promising direction for food production in Sierra Leone.

The Vice President’s initiatives are paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future, supporting not only the nation’s food needs but also the foundational principles of good governance and economic stability.
