In a significant stride toward global collaboration, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Makeni (UNIMAK), Professor Joseph Turay, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Perugia, Italy, on Thursday, 3rd October 2024. This partnership is part of UNIMAK’s continued efforts to internationalize its academic programs and foster meaningful global connections.
The MoU signed in Perugia establishes a new phase of academic cooperation between the two institutions, focusing on enhancing education quality, research collaboration, and student exchange programs. This agreement marks an important step in expanding UNIMAK’s horizons and elevating its reputation on the global academic stage.
Professor Turay emphasized the importance of such partnerships in enriching the university’s academic offerings and creating opportunities for both faculty and students. “This collaboration will allow us to share knowledge, resources, and experiences, which will benefit not only our students but also the wider academic community,” he noted.
The signing of this MoU comes at a crucial time when universities are increasingly recognizing the value of international partnerships in broadening their academic scope. The exchange of ideas and expertise across borders is key to creating a more robust and diverse educational environment.
With this new partnership, UNIMAK continues its journey toward becoming a hub of global academic excellence, bringing the world to Sierra Leone while providing its students with access to international opportunities.
