Minister Counsellor Ms. Sonia Umu Karim, Sierra Leone’s Deputy Political Coordinator, presented Sierra Leone’s statement at the forum marking the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration and Program of Action on the Culture of Peace.

In her address, Ms. Karim emphasized that “the culture of peace embodies fundamental human rights, fosters peaceful dialogue for conflict resolution, promotes solidarity, and bridges divides within societies. It actively discourages discrimination in the quest for sustainable peace among individuals and nations worldwide.”

Sierra Leone highlighted “the significance of resolution 53/243, which addresses critical issues and realities facing today’s world. The resolution calls for the respect of equality, human rights, religious freedom, justice, the rule of law, and cooperation, while reinforcing the importance of multilateralism in advancing global peace for both present and future generations.
