Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has announced a temporary power outage affecting multiple communities after a breakdown of the 33kV distribution line at Wilberforce in the early hours of Sunday, November 10, 2024. The Authority is collaborating with relevant agencies to investigate the cause of the issue and ensure quick repairs and restoration of service.
According to EDSA’s statement, efforts to identify the problem are underway, with maintenance and repair work set to commence immediately upon diagnosis. The Authority has confirmed that the 33kV line will remain completely disengaged throughout the repair period to ensure the safety of workers and maintain the integrity of network equipment.
The following areas will experience power outages during this time: Wilberforce, Regent, Lumley, Goderich, Malama, Wellington, Roportee, Jui, Hastings, and Waterloo. EDSA has assured residents of these communities that it is working diligently to expedite repairs and minimize the outage duration.
