Nande Mabala, a 25-year-old native of Zwelethemba, achieved third place in the Miss South Africa competition on Sunday 13 August. Despite growing up in Zwelethemba, she credits her community for raising her.

In a previous interview with Standard, she expressed her pride in her hometown. This was Nande’s second attempt at the competition, as she was not selected in 2020. However, she used this setback as an opportunity for personal growth and improvement.
