Freetown, October 4, 2024 – In a significant move to bolster the nation’s progress, today’s Cabinet meeting, chaired by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, saw the approval of several key instruments, most notably the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (GEWE) regulations and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Grant.
The GEWE regulations represent a major step towards the government’s commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women in all sectors of society. The approval marks a critical milestone in implementing President Bio’s agenda of inclusivity and socio-economic development for all Sierra Leoneans.
In addition to this, Cabinet also gave its nod to the MCC Grant, an important financial agreement that will inject significant resources into sectors such as energy, water, and economic governance, aimed at improving public service delivery and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
During the meeting, President Bio called for Cabinet’s approval of the paper, which was swiftly and unanimously supported. Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh emphasized the unity and commitment of the government, stating, “Moved by all ministers, seconded by the Vice President and the Chief Minister.”
