The European Union (EU) in Sierra Leone has held a meeting with the country’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to discuss how to make the committee stronger and more effective.

The meeting took place as part of an EU-funded project that supports Sierra Leone’s budget and offers technical assistance. It brought together the Ministry of Finance, Audit Service Sierra Leone, and Linpico, a consulting firm working with the EU.

The goal of the meeting was to find ways to help PAC carry out its job better. PAC is responsible for checking how government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) use public funds.

In a post on social media, the EU said:

“PAC plays a key role in holding MDAs accountable.”

By working closely with local institutions, the EU hopes to improve transparency and ensure better use of public money in Sierra Leone.
