England-born Sierra Leonean winger Jalil Conteh has signed his first professional contract with AFC Bournemouth, marking a major step in his early career.
The 17-year-old has agreed a deal that will keep him at the club until at least the summer of 2028, just six months after joining from Chelsea.
Conteh arrived at Bournemouth on a scholarship and quickly impressed at youth level, featuring for both the under-18s and the development squad. Club officials say his progress and performances earned him a long-term contract as he moved from academy football into the professional ranks.
Speaking after signing, Conteh said he was proud to achieve a childhood dream and thankful for the opportunity. He added that his focus is now on hard work, staying fit and continuing to improve.
He also praised the club’s style of play and the clear pathway from the academy to the first team, saying it has helped him settle quickly and believe in his development.
Bournemouth’s head of academy highlighted Conteh’s rapid adaptation since arriving, noting that even after a recent minor injury, the winger returned strongly and made an impact in youth competitions.
The deal underlines Bournemouth’s continued investment in young talent, while Conteh’s rise is being followed closely by football fans in Sierra Leone and the diaspora.
