Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology (EBKUST) has announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph Davies as the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor of its Makeni Campus. A distinguished academic and practitioner in Development Economics, Dr. Davies brings a wealth of expertise and over 16 years of professional experience in both the private and public sectors of Sierra Leone to this pivotal role.

Dr. Davies earned his Ph.D. in Development Economics from the prestigious National School of Development at Peking University, China. His extensive research spans topics such as human capital development, labor economics, and human resource management, with a particular focus on practical applications within Sierra Leone.

He is widely published, with notable contributions addressing issues such as the privatization of state-owned enterprises and the political dynamics of identity in developing countries. Dr. Daviesā€™ work has garnered international recognition, earning him a position as a reviewer for the Asian Journal of Agricultural Extension, Economics & Sociology.

Dr. Davies is a Lifetime Fellow of the International Society for Development and Sustainability (Japan) and a Fellow of the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning (UK), affirming his global standing in the field of development and education.

Within EBKUST, Dr. Davies has held several significant roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering academic excellence, promoting institutional discipline, and driving a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students.

Beyond academia, Dr. Davies has actively contributed to capacity building in Sierra Leone through consultancy work. He has designed and implemented training programs for numerous organizations, enhancing operational effectiveness and strategic planning.

His ability to manage complex projects and diverse teams is matched by his exceptional communication skills and attention to detail. A proactive problem solver, Dr. Davies thrives in challenging environments, consistently demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
