Charles Bah, a pianist, music producer, sound engineer, and artist manager at Cribs International in Sierra Leone, has completed a piano playing certificate at a one-week music training organised by Berklee College of Music in Morocco.
The training took place in Essaouira, a city known for its rich music culture. It was part of a bigger music event called the Gnaoua and World Music Festival. The workshop brought together young and experienced musicians from different countries.
During the training, Charles joined other participants in learning music theory, piano techniques, group performance, and other important areas of music. The classes were led by teachers from Berklee, a music school based in the United States.
Charles said the training helped him improve his piano skills and understand more about music. He also joined other musicians in group practice and live jam sessions during the event.
Charles works with Cribs International, a talent company that supports young artists in Sierra Leone. He helps record and produce music for many upcoming singers and also plays a role in managing artists under the label.
The one-week training in Morocco is part of Berklee’s international program, which allows musicians from around the world to learn and share ideas in a new environment.
Charles’s participation in this training is a sign of the steps people in the Sierra Leone music industry are taking to learn, grow, and build new connections
