Tombo, Sierra Leone – November 2, 2024 – The Bello Foundation Sierra Leone has once again extended its support to the Tombo community, donating essential school materials to 100 students. Led by the Foundation’s Founder and Chairman, Hon. Mohamed Bello Yillah, this second round of the Back-to-School Learning Materials initiative provided school bags, notebooks, pens, and other educational tools to primary and secondary school students in need.
The donation event, held in Tombo, Western Area Rural District, marks a continuation of the Foundation’s commitment to supporting quality education for underprivileged communities. Hon. Yillah emphasized the importance of this mission, saying, “This initiative is a commitment to help the less privileged access quality education, as education is crucial for national development.” The second phase of this initiative responds to the significant need for school supplies within Tombo, one of the most densely populated communities in the district.
In addition to pledging to bring similar donations to other communities, Hon. Yillah highlighted the Foundation’s broader goal of service to humanity. “This back-to-school donation is only one part of many contributions that our Foundation has planned as a means of giving back to society,” he added.
The community warmly received the donation. Mrs. Adama Kamara, a parent, expressed her gratitude, noting the timing of this support amidst economic challenges. “This donation comes at a crucial time when many of us struggle to provide school materials for our children. It will greatly relieve our burden, and we will ensure our children make good use of these supplies,” she shared. Other parents echoed her appreciation, acknowledging the Foundation’s dedication to alleviating their hardships.
Pupils who benefited from the donation voiced their gratitude, with many expressing how fortunate they felt to receive these materials without any barriers. They extended prayers for continued success and blessings for Hon. Yillah and the Foundation.
In closing, Hon. Yillah urged parents to stay vigilant, protect their children from harmful influences, and encourage respectful and diligent behavior among students to help them grow into responsible citizens.
The event was supported by the Foundation’s Communication and Outreach Unit, with Mohamed Simbo Kamara, Head of the Psychosocial and Media Unit at Bello Foundation Sierra Leone, commending the community for their turnout and support.
