The National Film Awards (NFA) Sierra Leone has appointed Barrister Ibrahim Jamil Sesay as its new Executive Director.
Jamil Sesay, popularly known as “Jamil,” replaces Mr. Idrissa Barry Jalloh, who now serves as the Founder and President of the NFA.
The appointment was announced on August 1, 2025, by the NFA Media Team, marking what they described as “a new era for Salone cinema.”
Jamil is well known in Sierra Leone’s creative and legal circles. He is the CEO of Jamil’s Mindset Production and has worked as an actor, filmmaker, writer, producer, brand influencer, and media entrepreneur. His film Taxi was nominated for several awards, and he is currently working on two new films: A Moment of Silence and Leicester Peak.
He is also a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Sierra Leone and has experience across television, radio, and various brand partnerships.
The NFA says Jamil brings “bold leadership, creative excellence, and visionary impact” to the role and is expected to help grow the film industry, build stronger partnerships, and promote artistic integrity.
The organisation described his appointment as a turning point for the country’s film sector, which continues to grow despite challenges.
The National Film Awards celebrates achievements in Sierra Leone’s film industry and aims to promote local talent on both national and international platforms.
