Born in Makeni , Amara Thoronka is a 29-year-old Sierra Leonean print and broadcast journalist currently working as a Senior Editor at The Fatu Network, a leading online media network in the Republic of The Gambia. He grew up in Freetown. Amara graduated in 2016 from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone with a First Class Honours in Mass Communication.
Amara was Editor of Beyond Borders Newspaper and Managing Editor of two newspapers in Sierra Leone. He also did consultant editing for some newspapers in Sierra Leone. Amara is currently a Senior Editor at The Fatu Network, a leading online media network in the Republic of The Gambia with five-years experience in print journalism. Lately, Amara is in both print and broadcasting. Amara has written hundreds of articles on human rights, gender, health, culture, education, youth issues, infrastructure, environmental issues, politics, etc; published online and mostly in conventional print media, under the column titled “INSIGHT”.
