A large number of yoga enthusiasts gathered in Kenema for the 2nd Curtain Raiser Yoga Session organised by the High Commission of India in Freetown, as part of activities leading to the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026.

The event focused on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” and brought together participants from different backgrounds who engaged in a guided session aimed at promoting wellness and healthy living.

Addressing the gathering, Charge d’Affaires Mr. Neeraj Kumar Saini spoke on the importance of yoga, highlighting its role in improving physical health, mental well-being, and inner harmony. He said yoga encourages a balanced lifestyle and helps individuals maintain overall wellness.

The session was led by yoga instructor Mr. Edward Kekura Kamara, who guided participants through a series of exercises designed to refresh both the body and mind.

Organisers noted that the strong turnout reflects the growing popularity of yoga in Sierra Leone and its universal message of wellness, wisdom, and peace.

The curtain raiser event forms part of global activities marking the upcoming International Day of Yoga, which is celebrated annually to promote healthy living through the practice of yoga.
