The Association of Music Producers and Engineers Sierra Leone (AMPE-SL) has issued key recommendations following the ongoing dispute surrounding the popular song “Money Necessary.”

The controversy started after disagreements emerged over the ownership and production rights of the song, with different artists and producers making claims about who created the track. The issue drew wide attention in the entertainment industry and among music fans across the country.

In response to the situation, the producers’ association reviewed the matter and advised stakeholders in the music industry to always put proper agreements in place before recording or releasing songs. The group said clear documentation between artists, producers, and studios is important to avoid future conflicts.

The association also encouraged musicians to respect professional standards and follow industry rules when working on collaborations. According to the body, misunderstandings over ownership usually happen when roles and responsibilities are not clearly defined from the beginning of a project.

AMPE-SL noted that the “Money Necessary” saga should serve as a lesson for upcoming artists and producers, stressing the need for contracts, written agreements, and proper credit for everyone involved in music production.

Industry observers say the dispute has opened wider discussions about copyright, production rights, and professionalism in Sierra Leone’s music sector, with many calling for stronger structures to protect creative work.

The association said it will continue working with artists, producers, and other stakeholders to promote fairness, unity, and professionalism in the country’s growing entertainment industry.
