The High Commission of India (HCI) in Freetown has organized Consular Camps and Open House meetings in Kenema and Bo to provide services to members of the Indian community living in Sierra Leone.
The outreach programme took place on 1 March 2026. The aim was to deliver consular services directly to Indians living outside Freetown, making it easier for them to access important government services without traveling long distances.
During the visits, the High Commissioner met closely with members of the Indian diaspora in both cities. He listened to their concerns and suggestions and discussed issues affecting their stay and work in Sierra Leone.
The High Commissioner also briefed the community on several Government of India initiatives designed to support Indians living overseas. These initiatives focus on welfare, investment opportunities, and strengthening ties between India and its citizens abroad.
Members of the Indian community welcomed the move, saying the consular camps made services more accessible and helped improve communication between the High Commission and the diaspora.
The High Commission said it remains committed to engaging with the Indian community across Sierra Leone and ensuring that essential services are delivered efficiently and transparently.
