The Government of Sierra Leone has officially launched a National Health Information Hub, a digital platform designed to improve access to health data, coordination and decision-making across the country’s healthcare system.

The launch was led by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with development partners, with officials describing the initiative as a major step towards strengthening healthcare delivery through technology and data-driven planning.

According to authorities, the National Health Information Hub will serve as a central platform for collecting, analysing and sharing health-related data from across the country. The system is expected to support better policy decisions, improve monitoring of health services and enhance transparency in the sector.

Speaking at the launch, government representatives said the platform will help health workers, policymakers and partners access reliable information in real time, enabling faster response to public health challenges.

Officials noted that the hub aligns with Sierra Leone’s broader digital transformation agenda and ongoing efforts to modernise public services, particularly in the health sector.

The initiative is also expected to strengthen disease surveillance, health reporting and planning, while supporting improved outcomes for patients nationwide.

Stakeholders at the event welcomed the development, saying effective use of health data is critical to building a resilient and responsive healthcare system.

The National Health Information Hub is expected to be rolled out in phases, with training provided to relevant institutions and health workers to ensure effective implementation across the country.
