Basirat Rufai is the third child of a family of four who is an indigene of Abeokuta and a student of the University of Ibadan’s faculty of pharmacy valedictorian. She scored the best grades making her the best graduating student of the year.
Schooling, for Basirat Rufai, was not that bad, it was fun, mixture of both good and bad times. However, coping with the stress of education was not easy for her, especially during her 500 level, which was practically the most stressful year for her. She enjoyed every bit of her education and was inspired by her colleagues in school
Basirat tops in all her pharmacy courses claiming some awards in the process.
The 22 year old Nigerian lady also bagged distinctions in all her pharmacy courses and topped her amazing academic feats with an almost-perfect CGPA of 6.9 in a 7.0 grading system – a first-class honour.
‘’I feel so excited and also happy I must say. All thanks to Almighty God, for making the dream come true. I have always set my mind to be outstanding in everything I do, and I am happy I was able to achieve that. The feeling is not really expressible, I must say. I am also very delighted I was able to bag distinctions in all courses especially clinical pharmacy.
Right from 400 level, when we started clinical pharmacy, I had always heard, ‘no one gets distinction in clinical pharmacy’. But I did not listen to this. I made sure I put in so much effort to break that record of ‘no one gets distinction in clinical pharmacy’. To be honest, I am very proud of myself to have finished with a CGPA of 6.9/7 and also as the Overall Best Graduating Student. Basirat told Premium times during an interview with Yusuf Akinpelu
Like any serious determined student, Basirat didn’t do anything exception to achieve the best student of year than doing the right thing, when it was test or exam, she went into hibernation mode to make sure that she study hard. Because she knew she was bad at reading at night, Basirat spent most part of her time during the day to student and Salat( prayer).
Congratulations to Basirat
