Young Nigerian lady identified Obianuju Okafor recently graduated with a Ph.D in Computer Science, a major milestone many of us are working towards- but what made her take the leap and get her Ph.D?
For Okafor, it was a combination of factors. She wanted to increase representation for young girls of color, give herself more career options, use her skills and knowledge to make a difference in the world, and of course, to learn and expand her knowledge base. But most of all, Okafor was inspired to get her Ph.D by her father, who had always encouraged her to pursue a Ph.D but never had the time to go back to school himself as she posted on her Linkedin.
