A Young Nigerian man identified as Oluwakorede Adedeji has recently achieved an incredible feat as he graduated as the Best Graduating Student of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the University of Ilorin with a CGPA of 4.96 and bagged a total of 14 awards. These awards include Best Graduating Student of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Best Graduating Student of the Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology, Best Graduating Student of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Best Graduating Student of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy, and Overall Best Graduating Student of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Ilorin.
On top of these awards, Oluwakorede has achieved several honors and awards throughout his undergraduate years. These include Winner of the Late Professor Agunu Hackathon (2019); Scholar of the Year Award, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (2019); Recipient of the Globacom award for the five (5) best undergraduate students in the University of Ilorin (2019); Recipient of the Certificate of Recognition, Eastern Herald Newspaper (2020); Hult Prize Unilorin On-Campus Winner (2020); Top 15 of Nigeria’s first-ever Science and Technology Innovation Competition (2021); Top 10 Finalist of The FMN Group Prize for Food Innovation (2022); Second Place SIHI Go Youth Open Call (2022); and First Place Outside Virginia Submissions, Teen Health 360 (2022).

Oluwakorede is also a published author and has presented at numerous conferences. His publications and presentations include Towards Universal Health Coverage in Africa: Relevance of Telemedicine and Mobile Clinics; Assessing the extent and need for disability inclusion in the pharmacy education curriculum in Nigeria; Nutritional and Pharmaceutical Applications of Under-Explored Knottin Peptide-Rich Phytomedicines; Taxation on beverages in Nigeria: Impact and burden of the new policy; Towards universal health coverage: an analysis of the health insurance coverage in Nigeria; Antimicrobial resistance and one health in the post COVID-19 era: What should health students learn?; Impact of poor disease surveillance system on COVID-19 response in Africa: time to rethink and rebuilt; and Malaria and COVID-19: A double battle for Burundi.

Oluwakorede has also been an active leader and volunteer. He has served as Campus Director for the Millennium Campus Network (MCN) Fellowship; member of the Editorial Committee for the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation; Editor-in-Chief for the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigerian Students, University of Ilorin chapter; and Young Leader for the International AIDS Society (2022).
In light of these accomplishments, Oluwakorede Adedeji expresses his profound gratitude to God, and to his Lecturers, friends, family, and other supporters for helping him reach this milestone.
