South African comedian, Trevor Noah bids goodbye to his fans as he hosted his last episode of The Daily Show, a US late-night comedy programme, after seven years.

In an emotional farewell, he gave what he called a “shout out to black women”.

When he announced his departure in September the 38-year-old said: “I remember when we first started… so many people didn’t believe in us… [Appointing me as host] was a crazy bet to make. I still think it was a crazy choice, this random African”.

In his goodbye monologue, he admits that he first found it hard to fill the studio seats but over the last seven years Noah himself has brought in a younger, enthusiastic audience.

Noah began his career in his native South Africa, releasing a string of stand-up specials and hosting a late-night talk show before relocating to the US in 2011.
