“Dear Mama;” Now Everything Awaits Me.” Lady Who Graduated With Bachelor Of Laws With Honors Writes Letter To Her Mother

You asked me to keep shining as the world needed my light, you said ‘even though my branches are growing in different directions, my root should remain as one which is to get an LLB Degree’.

Bachelor of Laws with honors is here mama but you are not here to see it.

You knew how throughout my childhood I had wanted to be a lawyer, even when I had my first degree and I was about to have a switch, you let me know that there is a dream to be fulfilled. You never forced me as to what I am to become but you guided me every step of the way. Today I am dedicating this degree to God and in memory of you Mama Naomi Kargbo.

Your husband, my dad, kept his own part of the promise. I saw how he struggled to pay my fees, I had to work and study to help him because I saw the pressure was too much as Precious and Possible also were already in college and he was battling in completing the house. I didn’t want to be a burden mama but your husband made me realize I was not a burden as he was able to secure me a government grant in aid through the policy of the New Direction Government on teachers kids that have served in the teaching field for over ten years.

My textbooks were the oldest and most times my colleagues would tease me because most of the new and updated cases were not in almost all of my books, I managed them mama because you taught me contentment. In the middle of the course, I started having new and updated law textbooks through a friend that has been a source of support throughout this course.

Mama, I became many things inside and outside FBC, I had the opportunity to serve in the student union government as the Minister of Education, I serve my colleague students at the expense of my course, I traveled in and outside the country a lot mama, I was scared, I was worry whether I will graduate with a good results mama but then I remembered how you and papa taught me how to strike a balance between my academic, spiritual, social and moral life and excel in all.

today I am here wishing heaven had visiting hours. I am graduating in absentia with a 2.1 mama since I am somewhere around the world doing what I love.

Your forever baby girl,

Pleasant.”
