Profiling humanitarian women from/in Sierra Leone.
Meet Ms. Adama Sillah a voice for women and girls, a journalist in who has practiced for many years in Sierra Leone and the 1st female President for the Fourah Bay College student union government. She has supported many causes that promotes women and girls and she is very passionate about her service.
Over the years, Adama has reported stories of Sierra Leone’s rich cultural heritage and on rural women from deprived communities engaged in small-scale farming. She has given support to children living in slums of Freetown countless times.
Adama Sillah is also the Managing Director of Diamond Media and Communications Consultancy (DMCC), which trains girls and women in journalism. This project is largely finance by Adama herself in propelling her passion into action. Through DMCC, she reports on youth and young people, gender equality, violence against women and advocates for a society that empowers women.
Pushing her passion further, she is the Founder and Executive Director of Media Initiative for Women and Girls Empowerment, which encourages its members to “actively engage the media and talk on a wide range of issues that could enhance development in the society in which they live.” These issues are but not limited to politics, human interest stories, sciences, business, culture, and health.
Adama Sillah is calm,cheerful,polite, hardworking,teachable, respectful and has a great fighting spirit to succeed on any cause she places her hands on and she is always willing and ready to jump on her feet to serve.
