Santigie Bayoh Dumbuya, the founder of We Yone Child Foundation, has announced that the foundation, in collaboration with Wegdam Foundation, will construct a new structure for Senior Secondary School education at Wegdam Kamabonko High School in Kamakwe.

The Wegdam Kamabonko High School was built by We Yone Child Foundation with support from Wegdam Foundation.

The announcement was made during a visit to the school where he reassured pupils of the foundation’s commitment to providing quality education and life-empowering opportunities to underprivileged children in Sierra Leone.

The students were overjoyed by the announcement and chanted “We Yone! We Yone! We Yone!” in response to the news. This chant is a testament to the impact that the We Yone Child Foundation has had on Kamabonko village in Kamakwe.

The We Yone Child Foundation was founded in 2009 by Santigie Bayoh Dumbuya, a former child soldier who was inspired to make a difference in his community after saving the life of a young girl during the Sierra Leone Civil War. The foundation’s mission is to provide sustainable education and care to underprivileged children and to overcome the social and environmental problems that deepen and perpetuate the cycle of poverty.

The foundation runs primary schools in Kroo Bay and George Brook, Freetown, and has strategic priorities up to 2023 that include high-quality primary schools, access to secondary school, equal opportunities for girls and women, healthy families in healthy communities, and female empowerment and self-reliance.
