Sierra Leone’s Entertainment Ambassador, Amara Dennis Turay, popularly known as Kao Denero, and his team at the Office of the Ambassador of Entertainment have successfully concluded a pivotal meeting with the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the Permanent Secretary.
The focus of this meeting was on spearheading long-term tourism campaigns with an emphasis on leveraging comedy, fashion, and music to showcase and promote Sierra Leone’s rich cultural heritage.

“My team and I at the Office of the Ambassador of Entertainment had a successful meeting yesterday with the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the Permanent Secretary. We discussed long-term tourism campaigns, focusing on leveraging comedy, fashion, and music to promote Sierra Leone’s rich cultural heritage.”
During the meeting, there was a unanimous acknowledgment of the necessity for rebranding to boost awareness of the country’s untapped tourist potential.
The discussion delved into collaborative efforts with the private sector, contemplating bundled services with airlines to attract a higher influx of tourists. Addressing public health concerns, the participants explored initiatives to combat the high malaria rate, displaying a holistic approach to tourism development.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted efforts to engage Sierra Leonean diasporas, recognizing their pivotal role in contributing to the growth of the nation’s tourism sector.
Looking towards the future, there is a strong emphasis on empowering local content, particularly Sierra Leonean music, by ensuring its prominent presence on various platforms. The Minister proposed the establishment of an entertainment commission, signaling a significant step toward realizing the dreams of entertainers nationwide.
A comprehensive report on the National Entertainment Dialogue Conference was presented during the meeting, outlining the challenges faced and proposing recommendations for the industry’s growth. As a testament to the collaborative efforts, a major launching event is scheduled for February, promising a brighter future for Sierra Leone’s tourism and creative arts industry.
