A young smart, brilliant, and brave award-winning Kenya Journalist, Timothy Otieno has taken to his social media to celebrate success after breaking an ‘invisible’ barrier for his future kids and nuclear family.
The brilliant Kenya Journalist, Timothy Otieno just earned his master’s degree (from an international university).  took to his social media to share his achievement noting that he is the first in his nuclear family to step into a university, first do a bachelor’s, and now first to graduate with a master’s degree (from an international university).
The brilliant journalist, Timothy Otieno dedicated the achievements to all his family members who never made it to university noting that these achievements are for all of them “It’s for my mum who never made it past a CPE, my grandmother who finished her schooling with a certificate and my grandfather who never made it past high school. I proudly stand on their shoulders today with the full knowledge that the destiny of our lineage has forever changed with my accomplishment this year.” he said.

My mum reminded me something I never truly realized until this moment. I am the first in my nuclear family to step into a university, first do a bachelor’s, and now first to graduate with a master’s degree (from an international university).
I’m not quite sure how I felt when I heard that. I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude, humility and joy at this great fete for my family. This is not my victory, it belongs to my nuclear family.
It’s for my mum who never made it past a CPE, my grandmother who finished her schooling with a certificate and my grandfather who never made it past high school. I proudly stand on their shoulders today with the full knowledge that the destiny of our lineage has forever changed with my accomplishment this year.
Without even realizing, I have broken the ‘invisible’ barrier for my future kids and my nuclear family and for that I’m forever grateful to God and a legion of people whose support has been immeasurable.
