During a gripping court session on Thursday, Corporal Alfred Methodist Kargbo recounted his harrowing ordeal during an alleged coup endeavor on November 26, 2023.
Kargbo, a military officer stationed at the 5th Battalion Wilberforce barracks, testified that he had been coerced into involvement in the scheme by Captain Senessie, who remains at large.
In his testimony, Kargbo meticulously outlined the events of November 25th, when he noticed suspicious behavior unfolding at the barracks. He recounted the arrival of Captain Senessie in a vehicle and later, his own intimidation at gunpoint to partake in the coup plot aimed at toppling President Bio. According to Kargbo, he was instructed to disarm fellow soldiers and breach the ammunition store. He conveyed the profound fear for his life and the compulsion to comply with the armed instigators. Ultimately, he managed to evade his captors and promptly alerted authorities, initiating the subsequent investigation and legal proceedings.
During cross-examination, defense attorneys scrutinized specific facets of Kargbo’s narrative.
The forthcoming hearing is slated for January 31st, where the interrogation by the defense will persist.
