Sierra Leone’s Alfred Cauker emerged victorious in the 12th African Armwrestling Championship held in Accra, Ghana. Competing in the 75kg weight class, Cauker defeated top arm wrestlers from across Africa to claim the gold medal.
This remarkable achievement is particularly significant for Sierra Leone, as it has a relatively small arm wrestling community. Cauker’s win has not only brought recognition to the sport in his country but also hopes to inspire more individuals to take up arm wrestling.
Expressing his pride, Cauker stated, “I am very proud of my achievement. I worked hard for this, and it feels great to be able to represent my country and bring home the gold medal.”
Fourteen African countries, including Egypt, Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, Cameroon, Benin, Madagascar, Togo, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Chad, Gabon, and Ghana, participated in the championship alongside Sierra Leone. Looking ahead, Cauker is excited about competing in the upcoming World Armwrestling Championship and is confident in his ability to continue improving and achieving greater success in the future.
