Sierra Leonean artist Drizilik, along with two fellow compatriots, IB Cole and Mohamed Waritay (Med-Iye), are currently participating in the Budapest Bamako rally, which recommenced on Friday, January 26th, 2024.
Reports indicate that Drizilik, IB Cole, and Mohamed Waritay (Med-Iye) marked the beginning of the Budapest rally as the first participants to cross its starting point. They are riding under the banner of autism awareness, representing car 61 in their endeavor to traverse a 9000km route from Europe’s core to Bureh Beach in Sierra Leone, spanning two continents and encompassing 10 countries.
IB Cole, a co-founder of Puzzle Pieces, an autism support charity, initiated the ride with a deeply personal motivation. His son Mahmoud was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, propelling IB and his wife Nalla to establish Puzzle Pieces. Recognizing the scarcity of support services for families grappling with autism in Sierra Leone, IB envisions establishing a specialized autism resource center. The aim is to furnish families with essential support and equip educators and communities with the tools to accommodate individuals with autism.
The inaugural segment of their expedition encompasses a 900km journey from Budapest to Milan.
