In a recent operation at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Mumbai intercepted a Sierra Leonean national suspected of drug trafficking.
The apprehension led to the discovery of 74 capsules containing 1108 grams of cocaine, with an estimated value of Rs11 crore, concealed within the individual’s body.
Following protocol, the individual was presented before a magistrate and subsequently admitted to JJ Hospital for further examination. The passenger has since been arrested and placed under judicial custody.
In that instance, the illicit substance was concealed within everyday items such as moisturizer bottles, shampoo bottles, shoes, and antiperspirants, further highlighting the innovative methods employed by traffickers.
