The envoys of Sierra Leone and Ghana affirmed plans to boost diplomatic and economic collaboration during a courtesy visit in Moscow.

Dr Koma Steem Jeh-Appiah, Ghana’s Ambassador-designate to the Russian Federation, paid his first official visit to the Sierra Leone Embassy in Moscow, where he was received by Ambassador Mohamed Yongawo and other senior officials.

The meeting focused on three key areas: peace and development, trade and investment, and cultural and educational exchanges. Ambassador Yongawo briefed Dr Jeh-Appiah on Sierra Leone’s recent progress under President Julius Maada Bio — including his chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The Sierra Leonean mission also highlighted the country’s renewed national agenda, which places priority on education, agriculture, skills training and economic diversification.

In response, Dr Jeh-Appiah commended Sierra Leone’s strides and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation. He cited reform efforts under President John Dramani Mahama as part of Ghana’s own push for development and improved governance.

Both ambassadors embraced the shared historical bonds between Sierra Leone and Ghana and pledged to pursue concrete initiatives that favour the citizens of the two countries.
