In the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of Sierra Leonean politics, a new and inspiring leader has emerged, capturing the hearts and minds of many her name is Sia Mahawa Habiama Tommy, at the tender age of 27, has become the youngest Member of Parliament ever in Sierra Leone and among the youngest in West Africa, representing the hopes and aspirations of a new generation.

Born and raised in Kono District, Sia’s journey to political prominence began with a strong desire to effect positive change in her community. Fuelled by her passion for service and the desire to inspire her fellow youths, Sia embarked on a path that would lead her to become a trailblazer in Sierra Leonean politics.

Sia attended Saint Anthony’s Primary School and later proceeded to Saint Joseph’s Secondary School and later Koidu Secondary School. Recognizing the power of politics as a platform for transformative change, Sia immersed herself in political studies, pursuing an Honors degree in Public Sector at the Institute of Public Administration and Management Sierra Leone.

Sia’s journey is marked by her determination to stand against challenges and pave the way for a new era of leadership. Her commitment to empowering young people and amplifying their voices has resonated with constituents across Sierra Leone. Through her impassioned speeches and tireless efforts, Sia has become a symbol of hope and progress, inspiring others to dream big and strive for excellence.

Despite her youth, Sia’s intellectual acumen and a strong grasp of public policy issues have positioned her as a formidable force in the political arena. Her ability to articulate her vision and connect with people from all walks of life has endeared her to the masses. As a representative of the SLPP, Sia is dedicated to championing the rights of her constituents by extension Kono District and addressing the pressing issues that affect their daily lives.

Festus is also a perpetual volunteer in life-changing causes and has shown great commitment and dedication to being a catalyst and solution to the challenges faced by young people like himself. Festus currently serves as the Secretary General of the Africa Youth Leaders movement which is a network of youth between the ages of 20 – 30 years who have shown achievement, leadership potential and commitment to make a difference. Festus is also the Africa Focal Point of Youth for Change Initiative, which is a platform through which young people can access resources, be empowered and given the opportunity to grow to become useful members of society who will participate in the development of their communities and nation. Along with another Africa Youth platform, Festus has Co-Founded the Future of Africa initiative which is an advocate forum with the aim to bring together local and international socio-economic stakeholders to support innovative programs aimed at advancing the radical and practical progress of adoption awareness-vulnerable children and youth and youth leadership-through interlinking local, regional and international resources and opportunities.
