SEND Sierra Leone has completed a two-day financial capacity-building training in Kenema aimed at strengthening the financial skills of its staff. The training was supported by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Irish Aid, Imagine Worldwide, Concern Worldwide, and TERRA TECH.
The sessions brought together finance staff, heads of programmes, and project managers. According to SEND, the training focused on key areas such as financial management, donor compliance, internal controls, budgeting, and reporting.
Participants took part in practical exercises and interactive discussions designed to improve transparency, accountability, and effective decision-making. Organisers say the results were encouraging, with 95% of participants reporting improved financial management knowledge, and 90% rating the training as either excellent or good.
The event ended with a certificate ceremony attended by SEND’s Country Director, Ayamga Awimboora Joseph. In his remarks, he said investing in staff capacity is essential for ensuring the organisation remains a trusted and compliant partner in Sierra Leone’s development sector.
