Sadio Mane wins the Socrates award for the help he provides in his country and village.

When Sadie Mane left Bambali, his hometown at a tender age, he promised three things. Not to disappoint his parents, become a professional football player and return to his village to build a school.

He returned home after becoming a professional player in Ligue 1 side Metz.

He has now built a hospital, school and financially support households in his community Bambali.

Socrates award is given to a player to recognise their humanitarian works and achievements.

In his notable work, he donated £500,000 for a hospital to be built in his home village of Bambali

He donated £41,000 to the Senegal government when the pandemic hit

He donated £250,000 for a new secondary school in his hometown of Bambali, Senegal.
