(PRESS RELEASE) LAS VEGAS, NV — The Rapaport Group is set to lead a trade mission to Sierra Leone from October 15 to October 20, 2023. The trade mission aims to facilitate engagement between members of the diamond and jewelry trade and the artisanal digger community in Sierra Leone. By doing so, it seeks to enhance understanding of the challenges faced by the artisanal sector and to showcase opportunities for sustainable economic development that can positively impact the lives of millions.
During the mission, participants will have the opportunity to visit various sites, including the Peace Diamond Village, artisanal diamond digger sites, and land reclamation and agricultural development sites. The mission will also include visits to the Kono district and meetings with business leaders in Freetown. To ensure a seamless experience, the Rapaport Group will provide all necessary arrangements, including accommodation, meals, transportation, and security. The cost of participating in the mission is $3,000 per person, and due to logistical constraints, participation will be limited to 30 individuals.
Interested parties can find additional information and register for the mission on the Rapaport.com website. Applicants are encouraged to watch the Rapaport.com/PeaceDiamondVideo for further insights.
Martin Rapaport, Chairman of the Rapaport Group, emphasized the importance of understanding and supporting the artisanal community in the diamond and jewelry trade. He stressed the need for sustainable economic development that can uplift those in poverty, rather than building luxury on top of it. Rapaport highlighted the significance of bridging the gap between the wealthiest and the poorest, referring to it as “Tikun Olam,” or fixing the world.
