Rainbo Initiative has launched Sierra Leone’s first mobile clinic ambulances for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), marking what the organisation describes as a major step in improving access to care across the country.
The new service, supported by the EU and the UN Spotlight Initiative, aims to bring medical and psychosocial support directly to survivors in all 16 districts. According to Rainbo Initiative, the mobile clinics are designed to reduce the barrier of distance, which has prevented many survivors—especially in remote areas—from receiving timely help.
The organisation says the ambulances will operate around the clock, offering confidential and free support. Survivors can reach the service through a toll-free line: 599.
The launch adds to ongoing efforts in Sierra Leone to strengthen the national response to gender-based violence, which remains a significant concern in many communities.
